The Binding Site, a provider of specialist immunodiagnostic assays and instrumentation, agreed a 15-year lease with SevenCapital to take almost 100,000 sq ft of commercial floorspace at the Broadway complex, located at Five ways island Birmingham.
In the first phase of the project, 6 stories of existing office space were stripped out entirely in order to create a modern and contemporary new workplace for up to 360 existing staff members.

Acquired by the American-headquartered life science and clinical research company Thermo Fisher, The Binding Site will maintain its current headquarters on Calthorpe Road Birmingham, and expand its central operation across six floors within the Broadway building. The lease also includes 300 on-site parking spaces along with significant new cycle parking.
The scheme designed by BHB Architects focused on the improvement of the quality of the working environment and associated office amenity provisions.
The main entrance was redeveloped to include high levels of security into the commercially sensitive office areas. Throughout the building the main circulation cores were improved incorporating high quality interior finishes and fittings throughout.
At First Floor a large canteen space has been designed which will accommodate over 100 staff at any one time. To allow for this, the space has been divided into four separate kitchen pods all with a unique design. Timber screens have been integrated to allow for separation between spaces but still allow views through the interior.
The office floors have all been specified to a high level, with branding colours incorporated into feature patterns within the flooring. Breakout spaces and individual meeting room provisions were incorporated into the floor layouts.
BHB Architects provided both Architectural and Interior Design services to The Binding Site, and the project was managed by Harris Lamb.
