
The Guild of St Mary’s commissioned the practice to undertake the remodelling of this prominent church building which is sited in the centre of the city of Lichfield.
The practice has undertaken full architectural and interior design services converting the redundant church into a new home for the City library and a new arts facility. Due to budgetary constraints the works retained the existing first floor constructed in 1980, forming a new opening with balcony, which provides extended view of the ornate east end window and creates a visual connection between the users over the two floors.

Following detailed consultation with both Lichfield’s Conservation Officer and Historic England significant changes to the existing listed building were agreed as being appropriate to both the historic fabric and its new uses. These included lowering the existing windows ensuring that ground floor activities can be viewed from the Market Square and providing the Library user’s a view out of the building.
The project upon completion won the Building Conservation Award at the RICS West Midlands Regional Awards.

The Master’s House, St John’s Hosptial, Lichfield.
Assessment of historic fabric to ensure a secure understanding of the historic fabric, and how appropriate breathable insulat ions and secondary glazing could be sympathetically installed.
Solution: A breathable IWI Sheep Wool Insulation and lime mortar on wood wool. Sympathetic interiors following the completed installation of secondary glazing, breathable insulation, lime plaster and breathable decorations. The property has reduced its winter energy costs and enjoys a more comfortable thermal environment.

CAT A fitout Office project located in Birmingham City Centre which achieved Excellent under the BREEAM UK Refurbishment and Fitout criteria. Careful design decisions chosen alongside consulting with BREEAM Professionals allowed us to achieve the required Excellent BREEAM Rating and achieve a modern, flexible and focus driven working space interior fitout.
Our design teams can identify when thermal modelling software, daylight assessment or building fabric analysis is required for U-value calculation or other aspects of building performance.
