Award winning contemporary renovation of historic Grade 2 listed church, St Barnabas church is a prime example of how modern architecture and good conservation practice can be integrated into a historically important ecclesiastical setting to provide outstanding community facilities.
Grade II listed St Barnabas was destroyed by fire on 4th October 2007, only the tower and perimeter walls were left standing. Following supervision of the site clearance, stabilization and insurance claim, we have worked with the client body to establish a brief and design to repair, extend and refurbish St Barnabas for use in the twenty first century and beyond. BHB have successfully completed all stages of work including Faculty approvals, detailed design and contract administration through to completion.
Winner of a South Staffordshire Design Award, St Barnabas was completed in 2012. The £4million project included bold extensions, sensitive repair works and major refurbishment. BHB also designed key internal liturgical furnishings.
