The Design process

BHB can provide a full service from concept to completion for your interior design project that encompasses your brief and our unique design approach specific to your individual vision for your project.

A typical Interior design project would consist of the following stages:

Stage 1 – Initial Design Consultation

It is essential that we meet with you to discuss your vision and requirements for the project. This would ideally be on site so that we can gauge your expectations against the existing backdrop/ structure/ site.

From here we will be able to develop our initial brief and suggested design approach which will be unique to every project.

Stage 2 – Concept Design

Following either receipt of plans or a detailed survey of the existing building/ site we will develop sketch layouts and initial design concepts, accompanied with inspirational mood boards to help you envisage the style and finishes we are proposing for your individual scheme.

These will be presented to you for discussion and comments before we move onto the detailed stages of the design. It is at this stage we suggest reviewing costings ensuring proposals are aligned with your budget as the scheme moves forward.

Stage 3 – Design Development

At this stage we would provide finished scheme layouts and elevations based on the agreed concept. Further developed presentations of materials and finishes including visuals can be produced along with cost plan updates.

Stage 4 – Detailed Design

The final stage of the project is to provide a detailed package of information and drawings. We would also look at preparing schedules of fixtures and fittings and specifications of finishes to the interior, enabling the scheme to be competitively tendered or agreeing costs with a preferred contractor.

Throughout these stages we can work with local authorities to ensure the necessary planning permissions required are in place.

We are also able to provide a project management service for our clients.
